Appetizers
Fried pickles, jalapeño poppers, pizza sticks, cheese sticks, Scottish eggs, parm fries and bone-in wings. Or the Sampler if you can't choose, which nobody can.
AppetizersThat's Gena's line, not ours. Bring the kids, bring your parents, bring the whole shift. There's a bar in here and there's a kids' menu, and neither one is an afterthought.
The beef comes from Pat & Tams, right here in Stanfield. It has never been frozen. As Gena puts it: “we may pay a little more for it, but we believe in only serving the best.”
One of the two things Gena names first when anyone asks what sells. 4pm to 8pm, Saturdays — and it does not always last until eight, so come early or call ahead.
Pat & Tams beef, never frozen.
The Spicy Cowboy · $16
Pat & Tams is in Stanfield. That's the whole supply chain — no distributor, no frozen case, no patties that arrived in a box already round.
Not portioned by a machine into identical pucks. It's slower and it costs more, and it's the reason a Broken Barrel patty has torn edges that crisp on the griddle.
The sriracha aioli, the honey mustard, the ranch, the teriyaki — all of them, fresh, along with the appetizers. One reviewer put it plainly: “Delicious LOCAL meat and home made sauces too!!!”
Blistered on the griddle until they go sweet. It surprises people — “never had one with cooked jalapeños and it was delicious” — and it's why the Spicy Cowboy outsells everything.

We were surprised at how good and innovative the burgers were. Never had one with cooked jalapenos and it was delicious.Guest review
Broken Barrel belongs to the town. We're not a bar, we're a restaurant with a bar.Gena Clayton, owner
Inside
Gena walked in for a job in March 2020, weeks before the world shut. She ended up managing it, and in 2024 she and Brandon bought it outright.
They run it together — Brandon in the kitchen, and their son works the line beside him. There are nine on the team. Gena's description of the arrangement: “we bought a bar and gained a family.”
Everything that comes out of the fryer was put together in this kitchen, same as the sauces.
Fried pickles, jalapeño poppers, pizza sticks, cheese sticks, Scottish eggs, parm fries and bone-in wings. Or the Sampler if you can't choose, which nobody can.
AppetizersThe Barrel Club, the Grown Up Grilled Cheese, the Cowgirl Chicken Wrap, and a vegan sandwich so nobody in the group has to sit it out.
SandwichesA full bar, house-made cocktails, Oregon craft beer on tap, Oregon State Video Lottery and happy hour. Still a restaurant first — that's the whole point of the place.
SpecialsWalk in, order ahead for pickup, or call. Prime rib Saturdays, 4 to 8.
